Flats main cause of housing slowdown?

The falling price of flats is now one of the major factors in the UK housing market slowdown, according to the latest government figures.

Between May and June this year, flat prices dropped 3.6% – a figure many experts believe contributed to the price of the average home falling from £216,625 to £215,029.

The figures from the Department for Local Government and Communities (DCLG) show that the annual house price growth in the UK slowed for the eighth consecutive month, with prices actually falling in many parts of the country.

In the North East, prices were down by 0.2% year-on-year, in the South West they were down 0.4%, the North West 1.1%, the East Midlands 1.1%, and prices fell in the West Midlands by 1.9%.
